This small review is to evaluate my dealings with MinecraftServerHost.net, a company headed by a community member around here by the alias of MinerDave. Hopefully, this review will give insight into his services and my experience with them will sway others in their decisions in making an informed choice for a VPS provider. I also feel that it is only right that with the amount of times I have bugged Dave, that I give a review on my dealing with him, since he has been so hospitable to our community.
First off, the big thing around the community seems to be how well a provider communicates with their customers. For the first time in my years of dealing with hosting providers, I can actually say that I feel like my issues or questions actually get answered by someone who cares about their business. Dave, the primary support technician and community member around the forums, is always on top of it. For every support ticket I have sent in for very minor problems, or even just questions, each were responded to within 15 minutes, usually less. Dave seems to take customer satisfaction very seriously, and will stop at nothing to make sure your problem is fixed. In my one serious problem, my VPS was completely down. Within 5 minutes of my ticket being categorized as high priority, he was on it. Every 45 minutes to an hour, I was given updates on his progress. I was given follow-up emails after the problems was solved, apologizing for the downtime and checking in on me. This is the primary reason I am staying with them.
Next, the other big point that people look for: Performance. I originally bought the Iron Plan, a 1.5GB dedicated RAM package with a 2GHz CPU core - Ran quite well, kept up with everything we could throw at it, but Beta is quite the memory leaker. Between plugins and server overhead, I was dedicating 1GB out of the 1.5GB to the server, and allowing the server to have breathing room. Loved the performance, but man, I needed the extra power. I am now currently on the Redstone Plan, with 2 x 2.5GHz CPU cores and 2.5GB RAM. This thing chugs along, keeps up with anything and everything, including a 8,000 TNT explosion we set off. HDD I/O speeds were lacking at first, but after Dave investigated, he found the culprit on our node and brought our speeds back around 100MB/s, which has been a dream.
Overall experiences have been amazing. The prices are not bad at all, and you can get the 5% discount on his signature to help a tad more. The control panel is not my favorite, but it gets the job done. The thing I loved most was that Dave does NOT give you root credentials, rather he gives you a user account. I have seen a troubling trend of where people will get root, and if they dont know better, they end up using it for public uses. I also like that Dave uses a simple website, easy to navigate, and its easy to contact them with any questions.
Over all, expect amazing, personal service, with performance that I feel is the best around for running on OpenVZ. I do not believe that Dave is overselling, as I have yet to have real problems with speeds, rather its been people misusing resources on the node. Dave is an active member in these forums, so you can either contact him through the support ticket system or through PM's. I feel that as our community grows, so will our dealings with Dave.
Nice review, hopefully you'll continue to get great service!

Thanks - I was torn between you guys and Dave. I ended up going with Dave on a whim, since he was offering the 1.5GB server, and I like having that headroom lol. This has been the best hosting experience I have had so far, and thanks to him, have learned quite a bit myself. It has forced me to break bad habits in server management, linux operations, etc...

I'm also on the Redstone plan and it has handled everything my players have done.

Hey, I'm new here.
The Redstone plan is $43.95 + the forum discount. It's 2.5gb of ram. We don't like making set predictions on player slots.
Thank you for the review WarhawkXeroFire!

Like said above - $43 + 5% off for a 2.5GB server.
I think the price is about right for a non-overselling provider with fantastic support - its hard to come by nowadays.
Use the discount code "forumbargin" when you check out. (We've had to raise our prices to keep up with our new hardware since this review was made.)
If you have any questions feel free to drop me a pm/email.

tango.mymcserver.com is not working.
We are doing some testing on the test server right now, it should be back online shortly.
