So I'm trying to port forward for my server, but it's not working. I've updated my router and have forwarded the port 25565, but it's not working. Here's the settings or whatever you'd call it (and yes, I've already applied it, it's just that that's the only way to view them); I'm pretty sure everything is correct, but I'm not 100% certain. I have also set up rules in my firewall allowing others to connect to my server. Whenever I test my port on canyouseeme.org, it always says it couldn't see it because "Connection timed out."

It looks like you need to assign it a external IP that should be static so that it always doesn't change.
^I'm sure he means 'internal IP' - make sure the network adapter on the server machine is set to use a static IP. (preferably one outside the range that the routers DHCP uses to assign automatic IP's)

Umm... come again? Lol, I'm sorry, I'm just kind of new to this, so I'm not really sure what you mean by "server machine". Is that the router?
Alright, I just set up my computer to use a static IP using that guide, as well as setting up my router to use a static IP as well, and it's still not working.

Your router shouldn't need a static IP, I pretty sure it's only the server that needs a static IP (confirmation needed). Also, you quoted "Whenever I test my port on canyouseeme.org, it always says it couldn't see it because "Connection timed out.". It's because your port isn't open, or the server isn't turned on when you checked the port.

Well, I set it my router to use a static IP just in case, but either way it still doesn't work. I always turn the server on whenever I check the port, and I've already forwarded port 25565.
Server needs to have static ip. Dont manually do this on the server, have the router assign an ip by macadress.
Make sure you put in the right internal ip for the server.
Disable firewalls if that still doesn't work.
Use the correct external ip adress.
Leave the server-ip field blank.
If all above fails, then respond.
NOTE: if you quote me then i will be able to respond easier.

OK, my router is using a static IP, I've disabled firewalls, I'm sure I'm using the correct external IP, and the server IP is blank. The only thing I'm not sure about is giving my server a static IP. I'm not really sure what you mean by that. I've already set my computer to use a static IP as well as my router, so what do I do now?

The computer that you are hosing mc on needs to be static

Tried it but it's still not working.
I just meant the computer the server is running on
Ok, so what do I put in the IP section for my Minecraft server settings?
Keep the IP in the Server Properties file blank. Putting something in there will prevent you from connecting
Ok then, so I need to assign the RULE an external (or internal, as Survivzor said) IP? And if so, how do you do that?
it has to be set as a static ip in the network controller properties.

Is server-ip blank in the server config though?

Yes, should that be different?
