I just downloaded the server from the official site, forwarded my ports and set it up, but whenever one of my friends tries to join they stay there for a few seconds then disconnect
On the console it says either "[player] lost connection: timed out" or "[player] lost connection: disconnected"
My internet isn't exactly super great, but I really doubt that's the issue here. I hosted servers for my friends with no issues whatsoever on previous versions, this started happening now when i came back to minecraft

P.D. my firewall is disabled too

I have and that doesn't seem to be the problem
I know but i've already hosted before and the people i'm playing with don't live far away, i really doubt that's the issue here
You need an internet connection if you want to host a server. And no, internet from early 2000s doesn't count.
