I run a small RLCraft server, and I wanted to move it to Linux for possible performance gains, but its not working.
Ill be quick to the point.
We are running 20.04 Lubuntu, and have tried 7,8,12,14 versions of Java. We are noticing that the server is saying "Memory Usage: 500mb (50% remaining)". We have JVM arguments in the Start.sh file, -Xmx14000m/-Xms2000m, already.
We have tried to increase the max heap size via /etc/profile to 14-15g of ram, but it will not move from 3.9G total when " Java -XshowSettings:vm" is run.
We don't know where to go from here, and its driving us crazy. How can we get the server to use the allocated ram?
Yeah, but we have had the problem where two people playing crashed the server by running around.
It seemed to run out of ram very quickly and not take anymore than the 1G it claims to be limited to.
It's possible an environment variable could be overriding your java memory settings, though I'm not sure since I've only seen this problem on windows and am unsure if linux has environment variables.

We were just able to get the max heap size up to 12Gb now, but the server wont take any more than 1G of ram still, even with java args in place.
It does seem like there is Env Variables, but do you know if there would be a certain one to look into?

Something's wrong with either your Java installation or the Linux installation
It must be the Java Installation, It just started doing that after a fresh reinstall. Ill give it a refresh and see what happens. Then ill post in the logs in

Fully uninstalled all java instances, then reinstalled jdk 8 headless, and restarted with a apt-get update/upgrade. Seems to be the same error, I really hope it isnt with the Lubuntu install.
To install it, I have to use my main computer to install the iso. The server pc doesnt allow for booting from USB, so i disconnect my drives in the main pc and install it there then transfer.

Forgot to quote you, new to the Forums here and just woke up after my troubleshooting spree.
did you make sure to use 64-bit java?

Yessir, we have tried several different 64bit versions.

JVM_args I think? IDK, you might need to look it up

Post the entire server log using paste.ubuntu.com and the contents of your startup script.
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/NqM3rq4nqH/
Now the server will not go up, keeps erroring and stopping. This is the log of the error now
