My roommate and I are living in an apartment complex together where every room gets its own ethernet plug in the wall with the same provider.
Another friend of mine in a completely separate home has no problems connecting to the server and playing and I have no problems connecting to my own server.
Roommate has tried to use both my external and internal ip address to log in but has had no success. We also tried turning off both our firewalls and that did not work.
The error my roommate is getting is: "Failed to Connect to server io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectionException: Connection timed out: no further information:"
Does anybody have any hints on why they cannot connect?
Okay so assuming you have Windows:
Press: Windows + R
Look for: IPv4
And tell your roommate to use that ip (+port if you're not usinbg default one)
That is the internal IP I was referring to in my post, that unfortunately doesn't work.
I know it's internal but it may give error if he tries to connect to his own wifi using external one
My post and reply both say that the IPV4 or internal IP doesn't work, but thank you for trying to help.
If he is connected to the same internet then can't he just put "localhost" as the ip address and connect.
That was also tried and it didn't work. Any combination of IP addresses from either computer hosting was tried and it did not work.
