Hello everyone. Sorry if this has been answered, I did search, but didn't see anything related to my question. Hopefully someone here can help me with my problem.
I'm trying to get a Minecraft server up and running on a free tier AWS server. I used a free Windows Server 2012 as that is what I am most familiar with. I managed to get everything installed and running locally on the AWS server. The server is up and running. No issues/errors on that side of things.
My problem comes when I try to connect to the server from outside the AWS server. I can't seem to connect to it by either the public IP, or the private IP. I have setup a security group for the server that allows the necessary port traffic, and in trying to trouble shoot the problem, I also tried creating a security group with ALL ports and IP traffic open. Nothing seems to work.
The error when connecting is:
io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotedConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information.
The security group looks like this:
Type: Custom TCP
Protocal: TCP
Port Range: 25565
Source: Anywhere 0.0.0.0/0, ::/0
Type: Custom UDP
Protocal: UDP
Port Range: 25565
Source: Anywhere 0.0.0.0/0, ::/0
Does anyone here run a server on AWS that could maybe give me some things to try?

Bump out of desperation...
No help. Abandoned all hope.
I recreated the server using Amazon Linux.
Works great. 1GB isn't enough to run even a single user on it.
