Hii, there's quite a lot of similar threads on here but I've looked through quite a few and haven't really found an answer to my problem, so I thought I'd see if anyone else had any suggestions
Basically, I've set up a server using hamachi, but for whatever reason the only person who can actually connect to it is me. At first, I thought it might be an issue with the server so I tried a couple of different methods of setting up a server - first, I made a forge server with mods, and still only I could connect to it, then I made a vanilla one using the server file off the official minecraft website, and the same happened.
Me and my two friends are all connected to the same hamachi network and they both have the green circle next to their name on hamachi so that's not an issue. When they try and connect to my server, they enter my ipv4 address and it just comes up with "connecting to server..." and then after a few minutes just times out, whereas my computer connects to the server as usual. I tried port-forwarding but that didn't work either (though I probably did something wrong because I couldn't even connect to the server myself when I tried it). Preferably, though, I would prefer to use hamachi over port-forwarding.
We are all playing on the same version of minecraft as the server, and I had a server set up last year using hamachi which worked fine (and the same people were playing on it with the same laptop as this time) so I'm not sure what I've done wrong now? I've tried so many different things to get it working and it's starting to get really frustrating :') It really just seems as though their laptops just can't recognise the server at all.
Also worth noting is that one of the friends who is trying to connect is in the same house as me and is actually on the same wi-fi network (and hamachi network) as me, and still they can't connect. I'm not sure whether the issue is with their laptops, the server, or hamachi.
So, has anyone got any suggestions? I'd really like to be able to play on the same server as them both (preferably using hamachi rather than other methods)
YES! I just got it to work through port-forwarding, thanks for replying (even if you didn't necessarily come up with a solution, you got me to try port-forwarding again, which worked)! If I'm honest I think the reason port-forwarding wasn't working before was because the "connecting to server..." message stayed for quite a long time and I just assumed it didn't work because it wasn't working for hamachi earlier. This time I waited a while, and finally "logging on" appeared.
To anyone reading this thread who has issues with hamachi, I would just watch a video on port-forwarding and do that instead. Port-forwarding seems really complicated but it's actually not and I did it in a few minutes, and it seems a lot more reliable than hamachi Finally I'm able to play with my friends
