Hello! Sorry if this is in the wrong area, I'm new here
I've been trying for the past few hours to set up a small server just for me and my friend to no success. I've run the server, accepted the EULA, port forwarded what I needed to to my internal IP, both protocols, I'm able to connect with my external IP yet she can't no matter what we try. I've also tried forwarding the ports to my external ip and that didnt help either. I'm in needing a bit of help, any would be appreciated thanks!
Okay! I heard some people say I needed both so I just did both just in case
Here are the results when I port forwarded with my minecraft server on;
Im so sorry for so many questions, I'm not too computer smart. (probably why I had issues with the server xD)
For tracert ip, do I put anything for the ip like an ip number or just leave it as ip? I left it as ip and it said "Unable to resolve target system name ip". I also tried putting "Tracert 192.xxx.x.xx" like my internal ip, and it said it was tracing the route of my desktop..? So I believe thats not what we needed but im not sure lol
Yes. She purchased a real copy from the Minecraft website she's also able to connect to more popular servers like mineplex, hypixel, the hive, etc with no issues.

So to confirm, you can connect locally - they just can't connect form outside of your house, correct?
Can you please share the settings you've used on your router for port forwarding? Preferably a screenshot.

I made one for both TCP and UDP. My router also has me select what ip to use before i set it up and i have my internal ip set (My IPv4)
If this isnt the screenshot you were asking for just let me know and I can send the right one

Okay, Ill fix that part
I have given my external IP to my friend, she cant connect with it
I would prefer if I didn't give out my IP over the internet, apologies is there another way we can check?

I havent tested if anybody else has been able cause I've been wary of giving out my IP address, really only having one IRL friend with legit Minecraft
Ill private message it to you if you want, if thats okay
Sorry for the long wait, didnt see the second page! Sending it now
