How do I put more ram into my forge server? It's laggy and stops frequently because of the fact that I don't have enough ram. I tried looking it up but there was only results for a vanilla minecraft server so I'm scared of messing it up. I know you need to make a start.bat.....
[2.] Change the forge-1.7.10-10.13.2.1230-universal.jar to the name of your forge.jar in your server folder. Don't forget the .jar at the end of that string of text!
[3.] Then, change the 2G to any number. This number/letter combination is your server RAM amount. Leave the 'G' because it stands for gigabytes and a modded server usually requires 1 or 2 depending on how many mods you are running. I would try 2G and then increase if lag persists. Sometimes internet connection is a factor and then the 'G' amount will most likely not matter. Likewise, if your computer doesn't have a lot of RAM to begin with, you probably shouldn't be running a super intensive modded server. If you only have 5 mods or something, then whatever probably.
Troubleshoot: If you double-click the Run.bat file and the server doesn't run, double-click the forge.jar that is in your server folder and then the server should run. Not sure if the 2G (or whatever you changed it to) would apply to starting the server this way, though.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
Thank you so much! I'll get back to you if I have anymore problems.
What do you mean by "Change the forge-1.7.10-10.13.2.1230-universal.jar to the name of your forge.jar in your server folder?" There is only forge-1.7.10-10.13.2.1230-universal.jar and the vanilla bundle minecraft_server.1.7.10.jar.
If that is the Forge version you use you won't need to change the name. If you were using the Forge 1.7.10 recommended version it would be forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1448-universal.jar.
Can a Run.bat file not be made on a iMac? Because that's the type of computer I'm trying to do this on..
The instructions for a mac are different. You will still use the text editor but it will be saved as startup.command. The instructions are on this site.
Setting a server up in OS X is "more involved"
than in Windows because an executable file has not been made available.
A three step in-depth video tutorial of the process can be seen . Keep in mind that the server won't run correctly on OS X 10.4 and may crash your machine.

Create a folder, if you haven't already, and put minecraft_server.jar into it. For example, create a folder on the Desktop named minecraft_server and drag the jar file into it. Open TextEdit, set the format to plain text (Format > Make Plain Text), copy and paste in the following:
Save the file as "start.command" in the same folder as minecraft_server.jar.
This will give the server enough RAM to run. The amount of RAM can be changed by editing the 1G to something else, such as 2G for 2 GB.
Open Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities/Terminal).
Grant execute permissions on file start.command to Owner, Group. and Public. To do so, type in chmod a+x , with a space after it; drag and drop the start.command file into the terminal window; and then press enter. (This gives run permission to the start.command script.)
Double-click the start.command file to start the server.
Are you positive that is the forge version you are using and that the start.command is in the same folder? The jar you use to start the server (the file name that is) is what is suppose to be here.

FOR GODS SAKE,
BUY SOME RAM FROM THE COMPUTER STORE
[1.] You need to make a notepad file that has this text copy/pasted into it:

The names match, so you do not need to change anything. You should be good. Now, just focus on that number amount.

Here is a screenshot to help you visualize what I'm talking about; just remember this is Windows but the name of the jar is what is important.
Don't forget, lag is also commonly caused by CPU and internet speeds.
Thanks OcAMD! All solved!
You are so welcome; enjoy and good luck.
