let me start from the beginning and then ask my question.
so what happened is that I used to run a small private server on and EC2 instance but since not many people played I decided to go find a vanilla white-listed server to play on. so then I found one and had gotten really close to the community when I found that they could not afford to keep the server running. So I decided to lend out my EC2 instance for the server community to play on. Things went well for the first couple of months but this one mod (who used to be owner but he gave up that rank and also I am a mod there too) got mad when I banned his younger brother for pouring water all over the inside and outside of this one guys house (which took 40 minutes to clean up all the mess because his house is big.) and whenever this mod got on he demanded that I un-ban his brother because "it was just a prank" so he un-banned his brother himself and I and everyone else on the server found that to be not right because if anyone else pulled that stuff on the server the mod would be banning people left and right. also after I stood up to the mod (rememvber I am the same rank as he.) He banned me on the forums. did I do the right thing or would you suggest I do something else?
I am a believer in second chances, its good you gave the banned player another go. Though the other mod was in the wrong, he should have been unbanned and spoken to under your accord, not on the authority of another player demanding a friend/sibling to be unbanned.
Like Game has said, you have done absolutely no wrong.

Ok thanks. I just wanted to see if there was something wrong with me that I needed to change or not. also my fear is that since the owner and this mod are best buddies IRL and I don't even know either of them in person that the owner might side with the mod. In that case I would like to reclaim ownership over the server but keep the IP the same so that the players who play will not lose there map or anything. Would that be the right thing to do? or does it sound too selfish?

My Thoughts:
Its sounds like you have done nothing wrong, I would completely agree with your above corse of action. If none in the server will side with you then you should not be in the server (I learnt that the hard way) and you should reclaim the ownership of it, That would not be selfish. But what I would say is that it seems like you have a nice little community going there, I would recommend you try and not ruin the server experience for yourself and try and become friends with this 'mod' again. Then try and repair any severed ties between you, anyway? did you not say you have the support of everybody else in the server? you could call on them?

that's great advice and I wish that things had worked out that way. pretty much what the status is now is that everyone who supported me got banned just because they said out loud that they supported me.but then the private messaged me on Enjin asking me to please make a server seperate from the original owners and I was like "sure". so now I am working on Designing my own Enjin page so we have a private forum to talk on and I am allowing them to brainstorm names for the server now that we don't want to associate ourselves with the old server (and the mod who i was arguing with was a former owner who gave up his owner rank but still acts like he has the authority to tell everyone what we can do (for instance he has the Head Admin under his control and so we were all banned from the site XD) the actual Owner is not going to be happy with the Hadmin or the mod when he gets' back so if he joins us I will let him have ownership position again.

Hey thats Great! Well I am happy that its somewhat worked out for you, and it is good at least that all of those people who where with you can now go with you to another server!
Clearly the other mod is in the wrong here. Perhaps you could speak with the actual server owner? Afterall, you've done nothing wrong
just because I found this interesting I wanted to tell you why I found out that talking to the guy who was Owner would not work on this server. it appears that since this mod was a lame duck owner (he stepped down by choice) that server policy still let's him keep his Owner authority. though the guy who is actually labeled as Owner is arguing on my behalf and possibly what will end up happening if all goes well is maybe some issues between the servers will be amended and players will be able to go wherever they want. I am not going to be like a dictator who says "No you can't go to there server." all I want to do is provide a safe haven for the players whom I care for.
