So I only recently switched from the Xbox version to PC. The xbox version was so simple to run a minigame server and PC seems like it's just too much work to be worth it for me. At the same time, the xbox version is so behind on updates that it's not worth going back to. Here's some specific questions I have:
1. PEOPLE JOINING GAME: In xbox, there's a very simple way to have your friends join you, you just send them an invite. I'm clueless as to how this works on PC.
2. PERMISSIONS: The xbox version has the simplest setup for permissions, you just select the permissions menu and click which ones you want each player to have. From what I've looked up, I need to know how to write computer jargon and an equally complicated mod. ???
3. SPAWN POINT: I would prefer to be able to set a spawn point, if such is available.

My advice: click that "Realms" button in the title screen on Minecraft. There is a setting where you can play pre-created mini-games, and you can make your own world, too! I've never hosted one, but I've joined one and it seems like a normal server.
Ok, one thing I need to know first is if you're willing to pay a monthly fee, and if your not I need to know your system specs (That includes RAM, and Processor speed) also check your upload speed here: www.speedtest.net

I think you can make a server using your internet IP and some file from minecraft.net, and use a save file from the internet (Like a zombie defense map, which comes in the form of a save). I'm not 100% sure on how to work it, but there's a reason for the internet!

Yes I'm aware of how to start a server and I know how to link up like a LAN, but from what I've been looking through you need a different connection type in order to hook up with several people in different places. I've been looking for ways to get this done all day, this is literally my last resort. Pathetic that nobody has published even the most basic of a guide to help me. I'll make a point to do so once I get this craphole figured out.
Next for people to join you have to port forward 25565 on your router and your computer firewall.
Thanks for the info. Besides having one HELL of a time trying to get the damned port open, it's helped me understand where I need to get started.
On a side note, I've followed every single step on tons of sites and the stupid port still isn't open! Anyone know why? Firewall and my router has been configured as well as I've switched to a static IP and everything, but still no results!

4. Anything else I need to know?
You're awesome if you reply and help a noob out.
RAM- 6.0, Proc- 1.60, 4.2 mbps upload speed.

Any suggestions on which bukkit mod to use?
