Hello Minecraft Fans !
You're probably here because your minecraft is lagging alot . . . right ?
Well i will help you , with a few simple steps you can get rid of that lag!
ME [ GreenPro1 ]:
Well my minecraft also used to lag alot , i had a gaming pc with really great specs ! but still it lagged , after minecraft 1.3 came out , it started to lag alot ! but now i have the solution to it !
Note:
I am not responsible for any problems that have occured ! please first check your specs and be careful , also please give me few small suggestions on what type of maps i should make , im very good in redstoning and making maps , its just that i havent played minecraft for a few months because of the lag until now since i have fixed it so i have forgotten a few map idea's i came up with when 13 came out ! ( i started playing since 1.2.5 came out ) Thanx ! .
Solutions!:
Solution 1 ( Very Effective ) ( Two Versions Of Java ? Nah ! Just One )
This solution helped me alot ! So sometimes happen when updating java , or just installing the new version of java by yourself from their website , the old version of java well , just remains there and dosent uninstall ( i dont know if it happens everytime but i guess in some problems or mistakes by you or system . . . not sure ) ! But to confirm how many versions of java you have on your pc , goto control panel , any on top right corner , the "view by" might be category but change it to small icons , find the java icon and click on it ! The java control panel will open and under the java tab click on view . . . you will be able to see how many versions you have , now if you have more then 1 version , close java control panel and from windows control panel , goto uninstall a program , and see if you have the old version of java there , if not then just uninstall the whole java and install the latest version again and restart your pc ! :
Solution 2 ( Effective ) ( i think java 64 bit will make pc better on 32 bit windows . . . U MAD ? )
Ok , so these things well some pc newbies might think of but NO WAY ! Why do you think there are separate bits of java because java with i dont know ummm 32 bit java version will only work good for windows 32 bit but very bad for windows 64 bit . . . so if you have windows 32 bit , get java 32 bit and if you have windows 64 bit then get java 64 bit . . :/ ! :
Solution 3 ( Effective ) ( i love this driver , i will never update it . . . well minecraft lag will force you to )
You might have to update your driver , if you well Intel or Radeon, then im sorry i dont know how , just google it ! For nVidia , well just goto google and type in nvidia drivers , click the first link and put in your nvidia verson and all or just let nvidia's website scan which one you have and if there is an update it for it available then it will take you to the link from where you can update your driver . .. ! :
Solution 4 ( Between Slightly Effective And Effective ) ( I dont have time to clean up my pc , download software to do it *facepalm* )
You should get a software that well cleans your pc example : CCleaner ! Here are a few softwares i recommend you :
CCleaner
TuneUp Utilities
Glary Utilities
They can be very useful ! :
Solution 5 ( MEGALY SUPER EFFECTIVE BUT EXPEN$IVE!) (I will get minecraft to run nicely somehow on my old pc ! THEN YOU HAVE NO LUCK! )
well , if none of the solutions above worked for you then i recommend googling it and trying to research and stuff for atleast 1 month and maximum 6 months but still nothing works , then change motherboard , drivers , graphics card or all of this stuff nicely in a bit cheaper way , get a new pc with good specs ! yup ! :
Solution 6 (Super Effective Or Maybe Just Effective) (I am not a pc pro . . . just download something to handle)
Some people are just like , how do i change theme , how do i stop that and how do i close background processs . . . . just download a software that does that for you , example : gamefire . .. . ! just after a few clicks of settings , you can switch to gaming mode and run with no lag ! :
Solution 7 (Effective) (So your C:/ Disk is really full . . . . ? Shortcut Time !)
Solution 1:
Okay, that saves you a little hard drive space, but that does NOT make Minecraft run faster.
Solution 2:
Yes, I'm mad. You CANNOT install 64 bit Java on a 32 bit system. Have you even tried it before giving out these tips?
Solution 3:
Okay, this one might actually be authentic.
Solution 4:
That indirectly helps, you can just defrag your harddrive instead. (If it isn't a solid state drive.)
Solution 5:
Main thing is RAM and graphics card, not Motherboard.
Solution 6:
Whut. What kinda solution for lag is that?
Solution 7:
If you really want to clear space, CC cleaner is a much better idea. I also doubt that people will have the problem of restricted storage space AND an extra disk. But this still kinda works.
I think when addressing a problem, it is important to know where the problem originates.
Are you experiencing FPS lag? FPS lag is like you're watching a really choppy video and frames are frozen for noticeable time. If this is happening, it is a local machine problem:
-Your computer cannot run minecraft so well. Upgrade your computer to fix. Usually a RAM/GPU problem.
-Something is using up all your system resources. Close out of anything you aren't using.
-You haven't restarted your computer in weeks. Restart your computer.
-Etc.
(multiplayer only) Are you experiencing high latency? High latency is when your game seems to be working fine visually, but other players and/or mobs seem to be jumping from one place to another. If this is happening, it is a network problem.
-The problem may not be on your network; it could be a problem on the other end. Nothing you can do about this.
-You or someone in your network is downloading or uploading something and it is using all your bandwidth.
-The server may have tick lag. Also nothing you can do about this.
-Etc.

Sorry to bring up an old Topic, but as i am lagging and searchign for Java Settings i came accross this.
Solution 1, Compleetely Plausable. I speak from experience and i am a Certified PC Tech. If you have mor ethan one version of Java Running then that can cause issues. Your old and new versions will be conflicting and cause issues such as lag. I had this happen to me just about a few months ago. I removed my Old Java Versions, that cleared up a lot of Lag. the big thing is i Updated Java a few days later.
Solution 2, Rugerty is correct. you cannot install 64-bit on a 32-bit system. However in regards to a 64-bit system 64-bit Java will run fine, however if your browser of other software is not 64-bit then you will also need 32-bit Java as well. I am running Win7 Pro 64-bit. this is an issue i have come accross as well. Check this Page for my Information on this
Solution 3, One the ball here. if your GPU drivers are out of Date then this can cause issues on your system as well. And if your GPU is older than you are, chances are its not cut out for handling the game. however, MC needs a little beefier GPU due to the lack of Optimization. It is Optimized yes but it still actually needs a lot more Optimization. This is not easy to do in the Java software. So a decent GPU is recomended just not required.
Solution 4, very helpful. this increases PC performance all around. Also note that regular reinstallations of Windows is Recommended, but not required. regularly backing up and reinstalling your OS is actually not a bad idea. it can be time consuming but the results are very nice. after a year or two there is just so much stuff on your PC that not even Clean Up software can handle. so after a year or 2 some do it every 6 months but i generally Run a reinstall once a year to keep my PC running nice. I am actually getting due for one but i am waiting for some budget opening and going to Upgrade this Machine.
From here on out i don't intend to comment seeing as how my Information lightly touched some of this already. These are my Opinions based on Experience and Knowledge. in no way shape or form are the must do. So take this information as you will.
a good option is to also modify your MineCraft Memory Usage. Which is what i am looking for. It is set to 1G by default and can be set a little higher if you need more Memory if you like to run many Mods. the new 1.6 Launcher makes this easy to do. "edit profile" and the option is near the bottom.
In vanilla minecraft (1.7.4 Onwards), I use the following settings (Find the options in 'Video settings')
Graphics: Fast
Smooth Lighting: Off
Clouds: Off
Server Textures: Off
Render Distance: 2 Chunks
FPS: Around 120
Particles: Minimal
Additionally, make sure you have no texture pack except the default because a texture pack (even a simple one) can cause lots of lag. (I had this problem with Sphax)
I am having a issue where I am the only one lagging on the server, my FPS is around 200, my latency is 40ms, my HDD has 60GB free, i have 8GB of memory allocated to Minecraft, but once i log into minecraft its fine for 10 seconds or so then a massive lag spike where everything freezes for 10 seconds and then repeat.

Anyone have any ideas ?
open the log file and see if there is any errors like a disk io error
on a mac u just open the Console app in /aplications/utility select view all and then run mc.
In my Minecraft 1.6.4, it always lags and crashes and then it falsely informed me that there are not enough space of Minecraft. I realize that this may be the worst part it happened. When I load world, it loads sluggishly, and then it moves slugglishly and then it crashes. I need you to help me please and also I suffered a longest time of building terrain.
Here is the system requirements you need:
Minimum Requirements:
CPU: Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 (K8) 2.6 GHz
RAM: 2GB
GPU (Integrated): Intel HD Graphics or AMD (formerly ATI) Radeon HD Graphics with OpenGL 2.1
GPU (Discrete): Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT or AMD Radeon HD 2400 with OpenGL 3.1
HDD: At least 200MB for Game Core and Other Files
Java 6 Release 45
Recommended Requirements:
CPU: Intel Core i3 or AMD Athlon II (K10) 2.8 GHz
RAM: 4GB
GPU: GeForce 2xx Series or AMD Radeon HD 5xxx Series (Excluding Integrated Chipsets) with OpenGL 3.3
HDD: 1GB
Latest release of Java 7 from java.com
Software Requirements:
Minecraft Release 1.6 or newer. Older versions will need to be updated to current versions
Please note that some users experience issues playing Minecraft while using a mismatched version of Java for their operating system (32 or 64 bit), while using certain versions of Java 7, or while multiple versions of Java are installed
My Suggestions to reduce lag - If you are not running a decent rig or even if you are!
In Minecraft press the escape key (ESC) this will bring you to the Game menu.
Next click on Options…
From there choose Video Settings…
Change the following:
Graphics: Fast
Render Distance: Tiny (limits view distance to 32 blocks) - Do you reall need to see Far? Besides you need 64 Java for this (Far that is)
Smooth Lighting: Off or Minimum
Performance: Balanced or Powersaver (limits to 35fps) - Your playing minecraft do you need 120 FPS?
Advanced OpenGL: Off
Particles: Decreased
Use VSync: Off -
Enabling VSync fixes tearing, but increases input latency and causes stuttering if one's computer cannot draw enough frames per second.
Doing this should really increase your performance and reduce the ‘Lag’ you may see.
