Hi all,
Being a noob with setting up servers, I am confused by the talk about bying a server.
I recently tried to set up a server from my computer, but it used up a lot of memory and I am now seeking for an alternative.
'Bought' servers are online right and always running.
Or did I misunderstand?
Please advise me :(.

Unless you keep your computer on 24/7 the only way to make a server run 24/7 is to buy a host or set up your own host.
What is a server host? How does it work? And above all, how much does it cost?
A server host is basically a company that will host your minecraft server for you. The good thing about this is that there's less lag if you use a server host.
The pricing varies, it depends on what you want. Eg, RAM etc.
A quick google search will find you some decent server hosts. Or you could use the server hosting forum here.

Or always have your computer on and running the server. Not ideal, but it works.
