Hello all, I'm strongly considering buying a server from a host, but I really don't know what to start out with.
I have a couple questions:
1) How much RAM do I need for a 24-30 player server? I've seen alot of server hosts post 1GB as the 24-30 recommended player amount and wanted to know if this was correct.
2) I know this has been asked, but what server hosts do you recommend?
A 20 player server should have about 1GB of RAM and a 30 player server should have about 1.5GB of RAM. Usually hosts know what they are doing when they talk about the players to RAM ratio.
My current Minecraft web host is NFOServers and they're great. They've had 10+ years of experience hosting game servers.

Assuming you're self hosting, you're going to need a lot more than 1GB of RAM for a 24-30 person server. I recently fried a stick of memory on my server and just the overhead from CentOS overwhelms a server computer with 1GB within five to ten minutes.
I personally recommend that you self host if your wallet and personal connections allow. Me and my friends are able to sink a little bit of money into our server every once and a while and I know somebody who has corporate internet.
I've tried self hosting, but my internet speeds just aren't up to par with what I would need for the amount of players I want on the server. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm actually thinking about running a Tekkit server using my computer for some of my friends and I, but then using a host for my "main" server if I should call it that.

I use maxsmcservers.com. They're cheap, reliable, and the support is great.
Ok thanks, this reassures me on the RAM issue!
These are some good prices! Thanks for the info!
