So yeah, like the title says, I'm putting together a coding team for a java custom server. I haven't even started yet but I do know java so I'l be able to help after learning how client-server communication works (from what I know, the packets have to be formatted the same, but anything that doesn't modify that will work as long as it doesn't require sending the client info that the already existing packets are unable to do). So, any volunteers?
Note: The name will be mc², as in minecraft to the second power, or minecraft squared, as it will be minecraft times better than minecraft already is :tongue.gif:.

EDIT: One thing that I would like to do is make a client mod to go along with this so that admins can have a special admin-gui or something like that. I think that would be possible, but maybe difficult (and it would only let you open the gui if you were an admin even if you had the client).
Well, one of the things that I was thinking of doing was instantly adding blocks that drop to your inventory because that was always annoying to me (Would be a command line option when starting up server if you didn't want it or you could change it in properties). Also, new block format (as in it stores the info in a text file instead of in the actual jar so you can edit the drops and stuff easily, but you couldn't add new blocks and it would generate a new one if you removed a block) and maybe world format (more efficient ofc) would be nice.
Also, I think that bukkit format and a Lua format would be nice.
Dude. Can you not accept the fact that sometimes people want to do things for the challenge? So, no offense, but if you can't understand that, then just don't sign up. It doesn't mean that you have to batter me with reasons NOT to do it...
EDIT: Looking back, you may have been trying to suggest what to base my project off of, so if you were, I apologize.
Please people, If you can, apply. Two people can't really get this done, also, I'm working on the getting the project up on github, so that the team can use there changes.
EDIT: Starting on the Packet.java class, Just converting it from the C# one I wrote to Java.
