ok I was playing with sticky pistons on my SMP server, dropped a redstone torch and the server crashed. Can not relog even after restart, neither can other players. The server is showing a repeated:
at mz.a(SourceFile:136)
at mz.e(SourceFile:104)
and this is what I did
the door i was building was working fine, until I dragged the wire to where i wanted the switch, and dropped a redstone torch(to work the 'hidden' part of the mechanism and see how it looked 'closed') in the square a piston would push a block into, on the other side of the torch, directly opposite of the block with the piston attached, was a stone block.
the moment i dropped the torch the top part of the mechanism moved, the bottom stayed and the redstone torch became an item to pick up, but you could not pick it up, or do anything, then it crashed.
p.s. the reason this is on this forum is that I have not tested on SSP..

Well, I cannot answer your problem due to the lack of information. Not enough details, Not enough problem solving. PM me if You REALLY are having trouble.
To continue from the first post:
I created a new server, spawned a sticky piston (Dec 29), attached dirt to it
placed dirt one space away in the direction of the piston movement
dragged redstone around and dropped a redstone torch in the gap, piston went off, dissapeared, torch 'broke' but unable to pick up, server crashed.
D = dirt P = piston R = redstone T = redstone torch X = nothing (need for spacer in forums...)
all on same level..

also happens with sand. 3 servers down..
also if the redstone torch is placed on the side of the D with the 1 above it, rather than on the floor, it still crashes.
As above your need to provide some info if your really want help. What server software are you running (be specific) what plugins etc.
A stab in the dark - If you use bukkit try deleting the bukkit contrib file from the plugin folder.
vanilla. minecraftserver.exe no plugins.
apparently at least on SMP, if you place the torch in front of the piston (at least when sticky) it will crash.
eh. and if you mean OS, it's running on a Win 7 home premium... planning on moving to server 2008 computer when it goes public but...
the main reason i am asking for help in fixing it is that we have put a couple weeks into this server, just in working on the capitol city. i haven't even started working on mods yet. only two of us...
It might just be something with your computer running the server. My server hasn't had that issue at all.
out of curiosity, have you tried placing in the order i posted? (I would recommend backing up the server first...... just in case)
there isn't much of a reason for anyone to do what i did, but hey this is beta... if you have a busy server, please don't test it. I'll run a test on my Server 2008 Standard computer and see what i get.
---ran a server on the comp running Server 2008 Standard, same results.
Well - this seems like a bug from version 1.7_01. Are you certain your server is running 1.7.2?
Thank you. So much. I did not realize there was another server version, too used to my brother calling me and saying the server needs updated. Never check for non-required. Lesson learned.

ran one final test, without D1. still crashed.
