Hey, I want to make a new computer the new host for our server, but I want to bring the map over to the new computer. I've tried moving all sorts of Minecraft folders and worlds, but I cannot seem to find it. Does anyone know where the map is or what I have to do to get a SMP map on a new computer and use it with the new host?
oh i see. well you need to find where your minecraft-server.jar is...there is all the files for the server. your map should be a folder or a .dat file.
The maps are only folders, not .dat files - There ARE .dat files within the map folder, but you need the entire folder for the map to properly transfer/work.
You want to move a single player map and use it as a multiplayer map?
Copy the file from c:\user\<your user name for the pc>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves - They should be named World1, World2, World3 etc up to 6 - matching the 'slots' when you start single player.
Move that folder to the same directory you have your Minecraft_server.jar/exe file and edit server.properties so that level-name= matches the name of the folder you moved.. so if it's "World3" then it'd be "level-name=World3"
yeah rch, i fail to see the problem as well. if the op set up the server himself then he should know where those files are. they are all kept in one folder. there is no other location to look for. I'm confused how this is an issue and on the forum.
OP please explain better what you are doing with detail.
I have transferred the map folder into the same folder, checked everythign that has been suggested on here and this is the error that i am getting.
INFO] Loading properties
[INFO] Starting Minecraft server on *:25565
[INFO] Preparing level "world"
[INFO] Preparing start region

Any help guys would be great.
It may have been a corrupted mappack (using a buddies one) I will update if the backup works
