I have a private server and my friends were trying to get on and one got this error:
"java.net.no route to host. exception:no route to host:connect error"
And the other got this error:
"Connection Timed Out"
Found your problem. But, it sounds like you're either not using Hamachi correctly, your Router isn't portforwarded correctly, you're using the wrong IP in the server properties file, or your firewall is blocking their connections.

I am not using Himatchi. SO it must be that I didn't port forward. Can anyone help with that?

The ports you need to forward are 25565 and 8890 UDP and TCP, then you need to put the internal IP as the IP in the server.properties, as well as the port 8890 as the port. Then the people connecting to you need to use your external IP in the Minecraft SMP connection box to connect to you once the server is up.

P.S. I have a mac.

Router model?
Someone with a MAC needs to take over. I've never used, nor even heard of this Router.
I have tried to post this before and no one responded can you try to find someone to help?
You can *try* this, but I can't help troubleshoot if something doesn't work:
