without me giving random people my ip address? I left the Server IP field in the server properties blank after i kept getting errors. It then started without errors but I don't know if it's online.

Have you tried connecting to it, perhaps?

you can only connect to your own server by entering in localhost. But i want to know if others can visit it.

Go to www.whatismyip.com and try to connect to that IP.

Or take the port from server.properties and enter it on this website http://www.canyouseeme.org/

That wont tell him if Minecraft itself is running, only if he's properly set up port forwarding.

Add an Online/Offline indicator to your Server Topic

Note that this also gives out your IP address to random people.

Ask your friends to try to connect to it… Have you put any money into your server because if you haven't it won't be public and the plugins won't work.
