First I just wanna say, well done on finding this through all that sudden spam! I DO NOT WANT TO SELL YOU VIAGRA.
I'm sure a mod will delete it all very soon, they're good people them mods :smile.gif:
The two things in the title are separate events, but heres what happened:
Anyway, we just installed Bukkit on our server, and it seems to have reset a load of chunks randomly. its quite annoying as a lot of the reset chunks have been in the middle of towns, leaving it as it was when the map was generated. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Anything we can do to revert it?
As for the corrupted chunks, a while back another admin and I were working on a project for someone who wanted to create a Bioshock style city on our server. We were both Bioshock fans so we decided to help out, and used cuboid to clear out a HUGE area (aprox. 250x250x50?) and replace it with water to build in. We both died while doing this (via drowning, we forgot to get out the hole...) and after whenever we went there, we disconnected with a Java error ending in "recv failed" - I've looked into it and it says it is a corrupted chunk.
Now, that was a remote section of the map, a good 5 minute walk from the nearest town, so it isn't a big deal, we could just block it off somehow or simply warn our players that if they go there, they'd crash. BUT, the corruption seems to have spread out a little, and infected corners of two towns. Just now I've also crashed out in an old town with the same error, which hadn't happened before.
Totally opposite to my first point now, does anyone know how to actually reset a chunk, so we can build that chunk from scratch and be able to walk upon it once more without being kicked?
(If it is worth mentioning, whenever I get kicked (I'm admin on the groups file) the server goes offline and I have to restart via PuTTY. If anyone else is kicked for it, they are the only one to disconnect (that includes both other admins, one who I helped create this horrible glitch and the other who actually set up the server)
