Here is a quick little tutorial on how to set up a server on your Mac OS X
Step 1: You will need to get to the Minecraft website and under downloads, you must download the file named "Minecraft_server.jar" at the bottom of the page.
Step 2: Create a new Folder and label it "Minecraft Server". Place the Minecraft_server.jar in the folder.
Step 3: you will need to open Terminal, which can be located in you "Applications Folder" under "Utilities", or you can just search for it which ever is faster for you.
Step 4: Once you have opened Terminal Type in the command "cd" put in a space and drag your "Minecraft server" folder into terminal. Proceed by clicking "Enter" or "Return" depending on your keyboard. (It is vital to put that space in or nothing happens. It should tell you a whole bunch of stuff about created world or spawn point or something like that. You'll notice that a whole bunch of other files where created in the Folder.
Step 6: To actually run the server after you have typed in "cd" with the folder you will put in the command (Don't forget to hit enter first).

java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui

This should start up the server. -Xms1024M is the minimum amount of RAM allowed for the server and -Xmx1024M is the maximum amount of RAM given to the server.
Step 7: to log into your own Minecraft server under Multipley you will need to type in "127.0.0.1" as the IP: address. Note that this is only for logging in on your own computer.
Step 8: Your probablly wonder "How do I allow other people into the server?" what you need to do is under the apple
symbol click on "System preferences" then click on "Internet & Network" in there you should be able to find your IP: address.
Don't forget to keep terminal opened while your playing. For some helpful commands type in "help"
Step 9: at times you will want to stop or save your Minecraft server. To do so type save-all into terminal and to stop the server... well you type stop in.
Have Fun!!!
