i'm having some trouble running the server under linux, after updating today. just downloaded, dropped the new stuff in the parent folder for my world, chmod +x server_nogui.bat, ls -all, and made sure it was executable and ran it
if running from the file itself, i get no output, the server never starts

I was stumped by this too until I realized my actual minecraft_server.jar file hadn't been updated. After I removed it and ran the script file again I got the right version of the core server.

awesomesause. worked like a charm. shoulda figured that out.
All's well that ends well. The Hey0 epidemic was solved thanks to Hey0.
By the way, what was the problem with nothc's sevrer update that messed up hMod so badly?
There was nothing wrong with Notch's server software.
Notch obfuscates his code, that is it scrambles functions and variables into obscurity, so other people don't decompile and steal his code. Unfortunately, this makes it hard to modify the game since you have to manually go through the source code and figure out which parts do what.
The reason that Hey0Mod broke with the last update is because Notch changed a lot of stuff in the code and it took Hey0 time to figure out what changed.
Once Notch releases an official API that server admins can use to modify the game, server mods will be able to update in time for official game patches.
In the mean timer: Feature request - I want to eb able to change the /home of my users on a per user basis. Reason being, I want a jail system that works without additional mods.. and if can warp them into a bedrock cell they cant spawn or home out of all the better.
i have a unix server running with hey0's mod and i was wondering how i would update the minecraft server because when i try to join it says outdated client.

I like this idea, set spawn into a safezone (obsidian room at bedrock) and then have a jail that you can set another user's /home to. A good "not quite ban" punishment, wish I had that to use today.

Eh, why do we need this in hey0, when there's great hey0 plugins out there which deliver this functionality, less lazyness.
Yea, this is quite annoying. It has nothing to do with spawn protection, it's definitely something to do with the update. It's not specific to hMod, either, as I've only tested vanilla.
well i know its no spawn protection or any protection cause im the owner ofmy server lol hmm
does not matter if ur admin or not spawn protection will block the blocks around the given block radius regadless.

why does he need it at all when all the comands he needs to give and or not give out are already built into hey0.
/spawn /sethome /home /warp /listwarps /setwarp, if he is to silly to work the groups out properly then not our fault.

I don't suppose there would be a way to remove groups?
Because for someone to build on my server i have to make them admin.
I check the Groups.txt File, default group CAN MINE.
I also use the users.txt file to set them to a group...
Still Epic Failure..
Help removing groups function?
Help Fixing Mah Problem??
*see bolded/underlined text for the jist of my question* hello everyone :smile.gif: i am currently running an SMP server off of my home PC, its getting pretty busy. and so i had a plan that once beta was released i would start a new map and have everyone play legit...
however i am seeing an obnoxious trend within the members of my server, they like to spread out and make their own little areas that are completely separate from the rest of the server, so in short i was wondering
is it possible to somehow reverse the spawn protection? meaning, say i have a 200 block radius spawn protection, this would normally not allow building/destroying blocks within this 200 yard range, however i want the opposite, i want you to only be able to build within that 200 block area... though im reasonable and will make the area pretty large if/when i figure this out.
any help with this is appreciated, i was unsure if the spawn protection was from this mod or just a basic part of the SMP server... if the latter is the case, ignore this. thx :smile.gif:

You are not understanding me. Spawn may be a warp in the list but I don't have a way to explicitly set a persons personal "home". You may not be aware of this so I'm willing to be nice about it, but Spawn and Home are completely different, just because if no home is set it defaults to sending the person to the /spawn does not mean thy are the same thing. The /spawn location is global for all users, /home is per person.

He's saying just place the player in the jail and make it so they don't have access to those commands, say in a Jail group with no commands at all.

I am having some troubles... My friend, who was always able to join the server, now can't connect anymore...
It says the following when he enters IP: Connection Refused, or timed out!
Please could someone help me?
Greetings,
