Hate to add to the list, but any chance you could stop placement of active lava and water by guests and builders... they are using cheat engine to place them.
maybe Im just a n00b, but when I try to make a new level from within the server, (the /newlvl command) It always says not enough parameters, although I have a name, x y and z, and the type. (example /newlvl level2 200 160 200 flat) Ive tried various different ends, (flat, flat grass, ocean, mountain, etc.)
what am I doing wrong here? because I WAS apparently able to make 1 other level.
the map parameters must be the power of two. (256 512 1024 etc)
Yes and no. I was able to generate, load, and goto a map using the exact same parameters (/newlvl level2 200 160 200 flat) but because they aren't powers of two it causes some odd glitches
About halfway up between sea level and sky ceiling, it created one layer of dirt across. It also cuts off the sides of the map and has other quirks about it. Water does still seem to flow though, so technically you can still use this map.

seriously problem!

Objection, we've had this coded against for ages and it can not be done this way. I personally just tried to with CE and get refused by the server even as an Admin. Unless you can serriously emulate it and show me exactly how they are doing it you all have to be either lying or not using MCSharp at all at the time because CE engine will certainly not help place illegal blocks.

Hold up, this may have some validity, and I should've paid more attention at the time but I do remember at one point I got on my server the next morning to find that somebody had flooded half the main map about 7-8 blocks high. The odd thing was that based on the flooding area, the starting point should have been next to a sprite, whereas the nearest active water source was my fountain closer to the corner. At the time I figured either I had somehow left a hole in the air around the fountain that somebody exploited or one of my op/admins accidentally created one that they didn't properly fix. However a guest using CE to place an active water block actually makes more sense in this situation.
I think I'll try some testing of my own, see if I can't replicate this exploit.
EDIT: It works, I'll PM the video tutorial I used. I was able to place active water as guest and admin and it took all of 30 seconds.
Confirmed, no one is a liar then. However it appears the main release was not properly updated at the time opening a temporary exploit for some unknown reason, possible around the time of replacing the block class.
Please use http://www.mediafire.com/?vmzmlmtmdyo in the mean time which is more up to date and confirmed to not have said exploit. It's one of my builds and is also more up to date.
Edit: BONUS, this version can have 15 maps loaded at once, but you need to either use the new config or run the server ONCE to add the new lines to the config and set the limit to 15 and reload. Other changes as well but nothing too special.
15 maps! Woohoo! Epic, since our Windows VMWare virtual machine has one of the cores assigned all to itself and also 2GB of memory and MCSharp uses 2% CPU tops and ~68 MB of RAM with three maps loaded. The possibilities are endless. ^^
BTW - can someone list the bot commands? I just started using it and your site seems to be undergoing major restructuring. =)
It would also be nice if you could set it to forward or not forward chat depending on user level etc.

Very, very important note! Although this dev version of the server has the features you listed, it YET AGAIN doesn't allow guests to use the /goto command, which defeats the purpose of my multiworld server in which I have allowed everybody to visit certain levels but build only on main.
Please, please update this ASAP, since I want to have the 15+ map functionality and the activelava/water prevention too. =)

Apologies, this is how the exploit came about in the first place when some one forgets to update the SVN. I could do with waiting for Kakashi(Ulrich) to get on-line to get out a proper release, plus I've made a number of changes since that release like adding tree's to the generator and editing grass/dirt physics, also to add a few small other requests first so regrettable you'll need to wait a bit, we'll see how it goes.

No worries! People are happily building on my server, since I assigned quite a few builders/OPs. ^^
It's just the guests (a.k.a. 90% griefers ;-) that won't be happy, although they wouldn't be able to grief our two other maps anyway. :-D
I really give the success of my server to you guys, since the multimap functionality makes spawn jails obsolete and a lack of spawn jails make the server popular. Once every few griefers you'll find a cool guy and once he gets builder he will be immensely happy to see that he can safely build on other maps without fear of being griefed - he'll also feel special and come back. That, and the regular backups, which are just a blessing.
All in all MCSharp is a very strong community-building tool, in my opinion.
Ah, is there a way to stop the bot to forward EVERYTHING back and forth? And also, what are the bot commands? :-D

I don't understand, guests can use /goto command in my server since the April 1st Day update. You just have to set the map you want to let them to go with "/pervisit guest" and then save and then unload and then load the map. It sounds like a hassle but you only have to do this once. :biggrin.gif:

But not in the version I've linked to today to avoid a random exploit, I've coded into the config now variables to set if you want guests to have goto/levels or not (default false), plus a variable to set world chat or not (default true) but that currently isn't tested yet.

ah, that's what he meant, sorry. I thought he said that they both didn't let the /goto command work.
edit: For some reason the motd doesn't seem to be registering it resets to "Welcome to my server!" I'm not sure why.

I've started making the newer versions report in the log if it has any problems with the config settings and saves them to default so its clearer where its having problems. Name/Motd resets are caused by non allowed characters.
Okay, I'm having a little bit of trouble. I've been running a vanilla server for quite a while and I just kept hitting the 1mb limit, and decided maybe it's time to upgrade to a custom server. I was told this one was one of the best.
I get everything set up, and then I convert my .dat into a .lvl, and put it in the levels folder, naming it "Main". I start up the server, but everytime I try to connect (Or anyone else) it says "You must login! Try again.". None of us can connect =(...
Can anyone help me with this? It's quite frustrating. Thanks!

Did the allowed characters change? It is the same motd as before.
Also, CONSOLE messages work! Yay!
edit: After trying out some motds, it seems like commas don't work now.
