I'm trying to set up a server here. And I've gone through all the port forwarding crap, but it's not letting me. When I open the "minecraft-server.jar" it comes up with a message saying "Failed to load class manifest attribute from (location of file)" and when I run Server.bat it says "'java is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file." Everything else opens fine and my Java is up to date, because it lets me play the game no problem. The only thing that I can think of is that I have the file in the wrong spot. It's saved to my user downloads folder. I'm running Vista 64 bit.

The proper use of the military is to act as a deterrent against war, not to carry it out. And once in war, to make sure to remember civility. For a war with no civility will only lead to massacre.
If it says java is not an internal or external command, it means your java isn't up to date or you have the wrong version. Or you've installed it wrong,
Download the JDK and JRE from the site, install and restart. Then try again.

You know why there is a file called README.TXT in there? Not saying anything else...
Yeah, and I've read it top to bottom 4 times and it doesn't mention this problem at all. All it talks about are release updates and server commands. kthxbai.
