I have a bukkit 1.7.2 server that i would like to allow just a few friends to join i dont want it on 24/7 just online when i want to play with my friends. I have failed to find anything like this so if someone could send me a link to video that would allow me to do this i will be very thankful. (also it needs to be free) and if possible please no portforwarding.
You will need to port forward if you want to run a server, and have a decent amount of ram and Internet Bandwidth.
There are however Free 4 Slot servers you can get, but unfortunately they are Vanilla only servers.
I cannot assist you in Port Forwarding since every router is different.
If you want a Free Vanilla 4 Slot server then go here.
suggesting that people could use hamachi really isnt doing them any favours at all.
its 'easier' to set up - thats open to debate. there are quite a few threads on here where people still struggle to do that.
what about threads where people realize that hamachi's bandwidth is horrendous and try to switch to portforwarding only to find out that hamachi's virtual network driver has borked their normal networking?
what about the fact that hamachi flaunts international IP conventions by cyber-squatting in a domain segment owned by the British Ministy of Defence?
the portforwarding process requires being able to follow only 3 or 4 basic networking concepts which will then become part of the users' computer literacy. Hamachi is just another 'app' that doesnt extend any knowledge at all.
By all means people can do what they want with their computers and networks, but perhaps think twice about pointing them in a direction they may ultimately regret.
