Is your server hosted from home or from a hosting company? Is the server running Linux or Windows? How much ram is dedicated to your server? These are prerequisite questions to be able to create a start.bat or start.command based on your setup. Here is an example of a start batch on 64-bit windows (I don't recommend using it, it's just for learning):
title run-minecraft
path=%PATH%;%C:\"Program Files"\Java\jre7\bin
D:
cd minecraft
java.exe -Xms2048M -Xmx2048M -jar craftbukkit.jar nogui
This would launch craftbukkit through java in "D:\minecraft" with 2gb of ram allocated to it. If you place the start.bat in your minecraft server folder, you can take out the D: and cd minecraft lines.
If you're using a control panel provided by your hosting company, there should be a starting commands option somewhere, the code above is what you would use for it.
