I hosted my Minecraft server the other day, and I logged on only to get this error message: Failed to verify username! [internal error java.net.ConnectException: connect: Address is invalid on local machine, or port is not valid on remote machine]
I recently got a new computer that runs Windows 8, so I'm not sure if that's the problem, but I am able to log on to other servers.
Notes:
My Minecraft and server are both 1.4.6
My computer runs Windows 8
The server is a regular Vanilla Server that I host
I have no mods installed
Can someone please help? I need this server working before December 26th at the very latest.
Just a tip but i recently had the same problem when running my home testing server, and if you have windows 8 did it come with kaspersky? Because for some reason kaspersky does not like running a server.... so you have to disable it for a bit to get on your server....
I'm having the same problem. It works when i put it into offline mode but then hackers will be able to get in with any username. Is there a way for it to authenticate my username in online mode or is that out of the question?

Try putting the server into offline mode, to see if that works.
Turn it to LAN under options, that's offline mode.
