In all honesty, I don't really care. Just go play singleplayer for an hour or two. It's not like EVERYTHING is gone. At least you still got the game. I understand that it is annoying, and that people play multiplayer because they don't like singleplayer. Stuff happens. If it really was a DDOS attack, then it's not their fault.
Personally, I would think Mojang would have more money to buy a better security system or at least fix this problem in a timely manner. Its been a good 3 hours and they have yet to fix this problem. I could understand this from a small company or from a single person, but with the money Mojang makes and the number of people they have on their team they should have been able to fix this problem quicker. This is my opinion, but I would rather not argue with anyone because that is your opinion and this is mine.
You are right about this here if you have an adamant enough "foe" there is no way to stop a DDos attack BUT you can have the effects of such an attack nullified & rendered harmless to your clients by having everything backed up onto at least one back up server...any business with any sense has at least one & I know Mojang does as well but seemingly not for all their services like the one that is down right now..I'm sure they have back ups of the website & client databases because those are absolute necessity...these guys have done wonders with the game but like I said before there is ALWAYS room for improvement...be it with the system, code or the devs themselves as human error one way or another is more often then not the problem with such things...it is very common place such industry's.
How can a single DDoS attack stop all Minecraft servers? They are not hosted by Mojang.
Also, remember to back up your saves when deleting the whole .minecraft. I thought that was a mod problem right in the moment the attack happened and I tried to join a server, so had the unhappy idea to do that. Am I stupid enough?

It'll be up in less then a day, probably under twelve hours.

Bahaha I like your attitude...perhaps I was wrong about you hahaha.
Thanks! Lol
So it's likely something on your servers end.
But I don't help much with server support. Soooo. Good Luck.
