Help!!! I can't get Minecraft Windows 10 1.2 on my computer. Everybody has the update but I don't. The update was meant to come out on the 20th of the 9th 2017. But when I go into the Windows 10 store and look for updates nothing comes up. plz help!!!
I don't have it (it's 7AM CST here in the US), so "everybody" doesn't have it yet.
Herb is correct (again).
Small updates (at least for Win10) are done automatically, behind the scenes. For large updates (remember we're talking for Win10, and this is a large update), usually have to be done manually. To do that, either:
* Go to the Windows Store, click on the ". . ." to the right of your icon (top right), click on "Downloads and Updates", then click on "Get Updates" on the top right. This will download and install all updates to your (Windows Store) programs (if available), including Minecraft.
* Or go to the Win10 page of the Windows Store, and (if it shows up) click on Update.
Android may have to go to Google Play.
iOS may have to go to the Apple Store (they usually take a few extra days for certification).
Xbox should notify you that an update is available when you start the game.
Patience. If the tweet is correct (there's nothing in News yet) it will be rolling out to various areas and platforms all day long (well, iOS will get it "shortly" and Switch will get it sometime "later").
Still no update on Windows 10 here. I even left the insider program and uninstalled and reinstalled only to get 1.1.5, so now my Android devices are on 1.2 but my PC on the beta, so now we can't play together due to the version mismatch. Seriously aggravating! It would be "better together" if the releases were actually done together.
Paper doll is a small version of your character in the upper left corner that shows up when you're running or crouching... a welcome addition since my partner constantly crouches without realizing it only to be blasted by a creeper.
As for the monetization of the game, how else do you expect them to continue to support and develop a game that some people purchased as many as 5 years ago? It's either this or sequel after sequel after sequel like many other game studios would do. The fact that Minecraft is still going strong after so long from a development perspective is mind-boggling, and I just don't understand everyone whining about a company wanting to make money.
Also, if you don't like it, go play the Java Edition... it's not going anywhere yet and still has features that Bedrock doesn't, such as shields. The Java Edition has always been isolated... absolutely NOTHING has changed about the Java Edition. I'd honestly bet that the death of Java itself will be what kills the Java Edition... if you want to blame anyone, blame Notch for ever building the game on such a broken platform to begin with.
This is a pretty poorly planned rollout. I still can't get the update for Windows 10, even though it's on Apple and Xbox stores. It is probably a unique problem for development teams to coordinate rollout to so many different stores so I kind of get it.
I agree that it's pretty amazing that they are still moving minecraft forward after all these years and my hat is off to them for making some money to support the project. I feel like it's the best money I've ever spent on a game because I've been playing for 5 years and it's still not old to me.
As a 10+ year software developer, I can say that Java is still the most widely used programming language in the world. It's just not that widely used in games. Things that are truly mission critical like banking applications and hospital applications use Java a lot. So it's not going anywhere.
In case you think I'm making up my previous statement, here is a link to the Tiobe index which shows Java at the top. I'm pretty sure it's been there since I've been out of college.
I've been retrying the Microsoft App Store since Noon today when I saw the news that Better Together was released. Everything said PC was ready but clearly it isn't. The Xbox One version is though. So frustrating, I wish they could give some sort of update on this, it's been hours.
notification from dev team : Hurricane Maria has damaged power to one of there data centres that does game updates, staff onsite are fine but the release of 1.2 for win10 is temp delayed
So correct me if I am wrong, but if I currently have the 1.2 bet and I am unable to play with friends on Xbox with the official 1.2? In addition, I will have to wait until the data centre is back online until I can update my WINDOWS 10 VERSION of the game to 1.2 official in order to play with them?

Yeah, I'm impatient too
No force update option. Just have to wait.
