since the last TU, monster spawners can't be "turned off" by lighting them up, and hostile mobs are spawning into well-lit areas (including my house, which has big holes in it from surprise creepers. anyone else? It never happened before.

They changed the lighting/ spawn differences, so if the light isnt in the space of about 8 blocks apart they'l spawn. Plus they also added the minecraft pc "mobs get more difficult\spawn more if your in that area alot. like more armored mobs and creepers. so... light up the area more and try adding water, because mobs don't rarely spawn on water.
If it happened to your Minecraft, then I will tell you why. 1#, The light might not be high enough. 2#, If you have 9-15 light, have no mods and have made sure everything is good, then you might've not looked at the coding. If so, you might have messed up the code.

Hmm... This has happened to me too... All I did was turn my brightness up and it stopped. I think that was it but my best friend says that they were spawning near dark areas, yet I doubt it...

Well you see like i said earlier they implemented the minecraft pc mob "Hardening" into xbox, so mobs spawn more frequently, have stronger or more armor, and have a greater chance of sawning in slightly well lit areas, to fix this space your torches from 6-10 blocks apart. and also try using glowstone because if you relly dont want to place torches all over your beautiful castle or whatever, glowstone can be used decoratively. Hope this helps
Oh and Btw your brightness doesnt affect in game, its only so you can see better, not so mobs wont spawn.

As Rigtofan said, the longer you stay in an area now, the tougher the mobs get and they will start to spawn in lit areas. You can place more torches to light these areas to an even higher level or you can also place 1/2 slabs over those areas. You can also create dark area "traps" throughout your world to encourage more mobs to spawn in those areas (causing the world to hit the mob spawning cap before the mobs start spawning in your better lit zones).
Regardless, monster spawner cages can still be shut off using torches to flood the area with light and they will also only start working if the player is standing within 16 blocks of them. If a particular spawner cage is giving you real troubles, you can also just destroy it.

Anyway, has this happened?
How do you code in the 360 version?
Perpetually negative
Lighting up mob spawners with torches on each side and on top is working to turn them off just fine for me (TU24).
Check the light level, if there is a way to do that on the 360 version.

I do not know yet.
Light might be nerfed.
