i just spent a ton of time building an elaborate blaze farm and now it wont spawn blaze. its not the lighting, i took out the glass and put cobble thinking that might be it but its not. light level near spawner has to be 0. i heard it might be a bug but not sure, is there anything i can do besides go into creative and create one? i love my survival world and dont want to taint it
Same in x360. I think, like other mobs, there is a limit to how many can exist. Since they now allow random generation the limit is being reached before the spawners get to spawn. I killed several of the randomly generated blaze and ran back to farm and it did spawn a couple of blaze while I was inside. First time since I finished farm. Just a thought.
the latest update said it fixed blaze spawning but it didnt. the good news in all of this is that if you keep resetting the nether and know where the chests are you can collect lots of diamonds, horse armor, gold, and saddles. ive got 14 diamonds doing it in about half an hour. i think jim is right, the game is reaching its spawn max, those blazes are everywhere. im pretty sure if you want it to work you would have to carve out a giant area around it and light it up... lame. does anyone know the exact sized area you would have to carve out? by the way, thanks for responding guys, its nice to know my misery has company
Ok, so I have had this problem too. I believe it has something to do with the maximum mob limits they have on the Xbox version. Due to the fact that mobs can spawn all over the nether fortresses, it fills up that limit, preventing blazes from spawning. There's two ways to get around this-
1) You can carve out, light up, or otherwise disable the spawning of all other mobs in a 128x128 block radius around your blaze spawner. This is time consuming and tedious, but it will fix the problem permenantly. Alternatively...
2) You can do what I do- it's annoying but it works. Go to where your blaze spawner is in the nether. Get close to it, within 20 or 30 blocks. Exit and save your game, then, when reloading the world, set the difficulty to Peaceful. This will eliminate all mobs around you. Exit and save again, then re-log using your desired difficulty (I play on Hard). This should allow blazes to spawn for awhile. If they stop spawning, or spawn rates decrease drastically, repeat the process. Exit, put it on Peaceful, Exit again, put it back to your normal difficulty. This worked for me, hopefully it will help some of you as well. Make sure you don't move around a lot when spawning the blazes. It will only fill up the mob cap quicker.
Hope this helps!
I have this issue as well. If it really is a mob limit issue, the current situation renders all blaze spawners meaningless in their natural habitat, since fortresses are so full of mobs now. Either the number of mobs spawning in fortresses needs to be reduced or blaze spawners need to disregard the mob limit.
This issue seems to be a deliberate choice considering that I've gone through and placed torches around my entire nether fortress and blaze are disregarding the light level and spawning anyways! Not quite sure why this issue hasn't been addressed but as of now I wouldn't waste time building a blaze mob xp farm at this time!
No they do not........blazes spawn from blaze SPAWNERS......if they were designed to spawn anywhere then what's the purpose of having blaze spawners?
I have several blaze farms that are now useless because of the new spawn points for blazes...on top of that there is also another difference in blazes no one has mentioned.......before when a blaze spots you they will "light up" and charge at you...this is no longer the case.....this issue has been existing 3 to 4 updates ago
I wish I would have seen this post sooner...I just spent about 2 hours building one only to have it not work and jump on here to find out why. I guess I just wasted a few hours and may need to waste a few more lighting up the area or clearing it out.
I have the same problem... Made a farm, it worked. Game updated, they no longer spawn in the farm but EVERY WHERE else around my nether fortress! Now I just run a loop around the fortress and kill them with a looting III sword. I get lots of rods and glow stone but the XP I earn goes to repair my sword! I need to make a new XP farm now!
This happened to me so I fixed it by putting half slabs everywhere possible in the nether fortress btw blazes can Spawn anywhere in the nether fortress that is light level 11 or below. But if you want to go above and beyond place have slabs all over the area around the blaze spawner… They should be placed in the visible area around the place of spawner which of course includes all of the nether rack.
