First of all, I am just a mom trying to help her son play the game. Not extremely tech savvy. We just joined xbox live to play minecraft. However, when we go to shut down the game it says to save progress before exiting. I cannot find anywhere a place to save?
We are kind of frustrated because previously we were playing the game with just a game disc. Worked fine for a month, but then the disc started giving us an error. Disc is scratch free. Called x-box and they believe that our console is too old to run it (Original white box). So they gave me a complimentary live version. But now we cannot figure out how to save!????
Is your son playing on a world he created (and inviting others online to join) OR is he playing on a world one of his friends created? Only the "host" (i.e. the one who created the world) will be able to save it.
If your son created the world, there should be two save options available on the bottom of the menu that pops up when he hits the "Start" button - i.e. "Save" and " Exit" (with a subsequent option to "Exit and Save") After the last update, there has been one report (on another forum here) of the "Exit and Save" not actually saving; but I haven't heard of anyone else verifying the reported bug nor did they indicate that the menu options were missing. At any rate, I would first do a "Save" only... and then you can either safely repeat with the "Exit and Save" command or just "Exit without saving" the game at that point.
Another thing that might prevent a save is if he is using a trial version of a texture pack or mashup pack. Saving is disabled with the trial versions, although the game should prompt you about the possibility of buying the full version any time you attempt to save while using a trial version.
