so this post is really really old but i figured i'd say this anyway, I have the same issue where my keys have delay in game and its only on minecraft, i have allocated 3gb of ram to minecraft and im using lunar client on 1.21.8. I have a good pc so thats not the issue and i also have a good keyboard that is pretty new if that helps. I've also checked if i have steam open and i don't and i've checked other stuff that u guys said that will fix it and it didnt

Just as it was for the original poster, I would presume this has to do with an issue with how the game is interacting with your input device.
Off the wall guesses, but here's a couple things I would try.
Are you using a high polling rate mouse? Such as 2,000 Hz or 8,000 Hz? I'm guessing this isn't it because this usually causes severe frame rate drops when the mouse is moving the camera (or the cursor) but I figured I'd mention it.
More likely it's keyboard related. I would try and connect the keyboard to different USB inputs. Try and connect them to the fastest (USB 3.2) ones. It's not about the speed, but I've seen it before where systems have an issue that is resolved by connecting the mouse or keyboard to USB that are on the CPU (as opposed to those connected through the chipset).
I figure many of these issues and complications are due to the fact that Minecraft is a game running in a virtual machine and using LWJGL to interface with the host system, but that's just a guess.
Unrelated to the main issue, so...
As a different example of that very thing, I have an issue on my current system where sound from Minecraft sometimes stops. It's not completely random. It seems to happen when I'm doing a certain behavior long enough, or rather when I repeatedly do certain things one after another. As a good example, imagine I'm mining in a cave. I am frequently mining. if I press and hold forever, sound never cuts, but eventually, as I'm pressing to mine, not pressing to stop, and then pressing again to mind again, it may occur.
Thankfully, it's very rare, so I "live with it".
Sound eventually returns, but often I have to stop what I'm doing and either wait a certain amount of time, or leave the immediate area and try another action. Alternatively, pausing the game always immediately returns sound.
The internal Minecraft sound buffer isn't getting full, and even if it was, this should never cause a complete cut out of all sound, but just prevent additional sounds from playing.
What's really strange is the sound cutout only affects Minecraft. So, for example, other sound sources continue playing, which indicates the issue isn't at the system-wide driver level, nor is the speakers themselves cutting out.
More bizarrely, if I am recording when this happens, and then I play the recording back, the sound that wasn't present in real-time is there in the recorded video!?
At first, I mistakenly thought this issue started for me with 1.20+ versions (or possibly 1.19, since sound changes happened there, and that I didn't run into it until 1.20), but I later found out that 1.8 also does it. I then attributed the change to when I changed my motherboard (which would include a change of the sound chip/drivers). So I figure this is because of an issue between my sound device or its drivers, and Java Minecraft.

where exactly is the usb 3.2 usb inputs, i have blue and black ones on the back of my pc and one has a different symbol then the normal usb ports for keyboards on a xbox for example.
I've now realised this delay is not just minecraft and also for another game and possibly just my whole pc as it feels like i have some input delay while typing.
There are no color standards although there are common colors.
For example, USB 1.x and USB 2.x were commonly Black. USB 3.0 was commonly Blue. USB 3.2 is commonly Red. Sometimes this isn't the case though. You would want to look up your motherboard and find out which ports are USB 3.2. If your keyboard is already already connected to those ports, do the inverse and try any other ports.
If this doesn't solve it then I don't know, but it seems to be an input issue related to the keyboard.
And if it's system-wide and not only effecting Minecraft, I'd look into the Windows keyboard settings and see if an accessibility feature got toggled on.

So i plugged my keyboard into every single usb port into my pc (back panel and top panel that has 2 ports and the delay doesnt go away. I tried every port and nothing changed so I have no idea why I have this input delay and where it came from as its somewhat recent.
i mostly use the 2.4G wireless adapter usb htat comes with my keyboard to plug it in but thats not the reason theres delay as i've had this keyboard for abit now and the input delay only just recently happened.

If you're having performance concerns with Minecraft, I hope this may prove useful.
A retrospective of the most important game to me (or, a try to stay awake while I never stop talking about something challenge).

At that point, I'd look into Windows settings (accessibility and keyboard related ones) as I stated earlier.
If you have another keyboard to momentarily try, and preferably a wired one, I'd also try that as a test.
