hello everyone,

I am playing mc on my mac book because my pc is broken and I have hooked up a windows keyboard to my mac, whenever i press the control button it will only let me attack (changes both buttons on my mouse to attack), does anyone know how to change this so I can play properly?

Hello! When you go to your in-game settings and click Keyboard and Mouse, and scroll down, you can see the options for keyboard/mouse controls. Make sure your attack button is Button 1, and your place button should be Button 2. This is so that when you right click, you mine/attack, and when you left click, you place, eat, or use an item. Make sure it's only on Button 1 and Button 2.

it still does the same thing but instead of attack it places

Is it a keyboard or a mouse issue then? Try another keyboard. Or whatever other functions/inputs of the game and change the keybinds for those, maybe it's very particular and with such animations or key pressure. Can only guess really.

Also I assume this is Java Edition not Bedrock for Mac?

Never used a Mac that much to know how some keys work in such ways, so or that version of the game so can only guess more on the keyboard itself or animations or something.

Maybe try another instead of Control/CTRL or try the right CTRL key it your keyboard has one. Maybe try Tab, or Alt or Shift or any other type of key. It is keyboard wear or is it something else.

Is it a Mac OS related thing maybe try other settings and see if you can change it at an OS level of what keys/mouse buttons do what. or get another mouse or keyboard and see what happens. It's either OS level of game level of things, can you re-default settings? Within reason of course don't over do it and ruin what you already have working otherwise.

Try other versions of the game (if you have Java) too but I don't think that would change much.

Oh, so when you click with both the right and left button it places? Try lowering your mouse click sensitivity or update mouse drivers. Your mouse also might be dirty, as this can cause both to click.

If button one is assigned to attack, and button 2 is assigned to place/interact, it should be fine. But it might be your mouse problem. Try unplugging your mouse and using your touchpad. (one click for attack, tap with two fingers for place)

I play in berock so it might be different/ However i'm unsure how control let's you attack? If you can't use your mouse to attack/eat using the left/right buttons, you can change the buttons to letters on the keyboard. I had to change the place button to "V" to eat on a recent mod.

OR you can be key-bound. I don't have a Mac, but my friend's mouse controls sometimes switch.
