I've noticed this weird thing that's happened for about a year now where Forge always crashes on the loading screen in 1.20.1, but older versions like 1.18.2 and more recent ones like 1.21 work just fine. Fabric 1.20.1 is okay too, it's literally just Forge on just 1.20.1
Idrk how to check my PC specs so I can't say much about that, it's a windows 11 PC
I'm trying to do it with version 47.4.10 of Forge (although 47.4.11 crashed too when I tested it)
using Java 17
I'm also using the CurseForge app, if that changes anything. Although I think I tried doing Forge 1.20.1 on the main launcher the first time I ever tried modding the game and that resulted in a crash as well
Ok I just tried that, deleted every version and profile so it could reinstall 1.20.1 and the vanilla profile worked fine, but I tried a new Forge one and it still crashed..
any other options?
If it helps at all, the loading screen normally gets to "Scanning mod candidates" and then crashes, so maybe that has something to do with it?

This is the log I get after it crashes on the loading screen: forge 1.20.1 crash log - Pastebin.com
Looks like the minecraft installation for 1.20.1 is invalid
Go to
\Users\midwe\curseforge\minecraft\Install\versions\
and delete the 1.20.1 folder
In curseforge create a new profile - vanilla 1.20.1 and test this one
If this works, go to your test profile - change forge to 47.4.11 and test it again

Go to the directory and check for the logs folder inside the forge 1.20.1 instance and add the log here

Nevermind, no need for this anymore I just installed it on the official Minecraft launcher and it finally worked. Thank you for the help though
