Hello, I am trying to run minecraft 1.18.1 on my laptop, however, my laptop has arrandale chipset (intel core i5 520m) which only supports up to open gl 2.1... mc 1.18.1 needs at least opengl 3.2 Now what i am trying to achieve here is that is there maybe some kind of custom renderer kinda like sodium or optifine that can somehow squeeze minecraft into running in opengl 2.1, or maybe if there is custom drivers that can enable opengl 3.2 on my integrated graphics. In minecraft 1.16.5 (the highest ive tried so far) it can run very comfortable at about 30fps maybe slight dips to 20fps in more intensive areas using sodium renderer, so i think i would have a chance at having a playable experience on 1.18.1 especially if sodium and optifine would be a bit improved after some time passed for 1.18.1 coming out, if it does mean that my laptop will turn into radiator... Thank you for reply if you do and please let me know if there is a way, I am trying to join a server that is 1.18.1 only but i know the owner so i could help him with making it multiversion so 1.16.5 and 1.18.1 can join at same time but i think that is very impossible becuase it will have so many conflicts.
You won't be able to play if your drivers do not support the needed OpenGL version. You may be able to play older versions of the game, but to play newer versions you'll need a new PC.
Well, you need to update your drivers, to be able to play up to Minecraft version 1.18.1, but there's no way to go beyond that, because your notebook/laptop doesn't have the requirements for 1.19+, plus it's old. It would be good for you to have a GPU, from Nvidia 100series+, that would help you a lot! I have a notebook that had an i3 330M, and I changed it for an i7 620M and then for an i7 640M, it's very good, I recommend it. Now you should switch to one of these processors, but first check if your Notebook or Laptop supports switching. What's your language do you speak? My language is Portuguese, but, I speak English fluenty.
