So i play on hypixel, i use multiMC launcher and i play on 1.8.9. instance. Since yesterday the game gets really laggy and from task manager i learned that openJDK uses 100% of my hard drive. I have no idea why it uses 100% of my hard drive or how it happened, any ideas?
Also maybe unrelated since today i keep getting kicked frequently from server when warping to any maps, with message: Internal Exception: java.io.ioexception
Or it kicks me to lobby with this message in chat: A disconnect occurred in your connection, so you were put in the SkyBlock Lobby!
All my drivers are up to date. Please help.
EDIT: I reinstalled java and as someone suggested i allocated only 512MB to minecraft and one of that stopped the disc usage, but every 2 seconds i get lag, very annoying. could it be because of too little RAM allocated?
EDIT of an EDIT: when running minecraft both proccesor and hard drive usage randomly spike high up. When playing minecraft, disk is at 70% RAM and proccessor at 98%, when i stop playing and stand still, disk goes down below 10%
if your using a hdd to play minecraft, it may be time to get a ssd.
What does that mean? also it happens with other games too
EDIT: yea i got SSD
How much system memory do you have and how much is allocated to Minecraft?

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
I never had any issues with a hard drive being too slow and it hardly even matters anyway - even a RAM disk doesn't make much of a difference since Minecraft is CPU-bound, even when loading a world (save data is stored in a compressed format, which requires a lot of CPU to (de)compress and convert to in-memory / on-disk formats. The Minecraft jar itself and resource packs are also compressed, and they are loaded into disk cache (any free system memory is used as a disk cache) after the first access since it has to be decompressed to access any of the files/assets contained within it)

I suspect that high disk usage is due to thrashing due to a lack of system RAM; even to this day the myth that "more RAM is better" persists despite no evidence that it ever helped except when there isn't actually enough (that's why I allocate a measly 512 MB to the game, a legacy of running on a now 17-18 year old computer with a 32 bit OS, though physical RAM wasn't the actual limitation back then; either way, it never reaches 100% usage).
Another possibility is a badly behaved mod, and mods in general, which write an insane amount of stuff to the game log (my logs from over a year of playing are less than 1 MB while I've seen people post logs from a short run which are bigger because Forge, etc simply must document every little thing they do, at the least they should disable debug output in a public release).

Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
This is very helpful, yes i'm having problems with not enough RAM, for about 4 months now, it is also used 100% by anything i run, same with my hard drive- it doesn't happen with minecraft only. I looked through all kinds of forums and not enough RAM is such a big topic it has many and many solutions, most of them by changing computer settings, registres. So maybe it was partly fault by digging so much in all sorts of things, but when the hard drive problem happened, i didnt change no settings one week prior to that.
and how do i stop mods from filing the logs?
Its not only minecraft using 100%, its other games too. Google uses about 40% of it alone.
I have only verified mods like neu or sba, i dont think those have viruses
What does Task Manager show when your computer is idle (nothing else open)? I had no issues with only 3 GB of usable RAM on a Windows 10 system, with around 2 GB free to use, and the only time I've come to maxing that out was when editing a huge image in GIMP (even the 64 bit version of Paint claims there aren't enough resources when opening very large images).

The hard drive issue is resolved- check edit, the 40% i was talking about RAM.
I have windows 10, wdym spec?
When i close everything, disk and processor are both under 5% most of the time, RAM is just under 40%- windows antimalware service is running always when i open task manager. When idle most RAM uses also the task manager, windows explorer and registrers.
Upon starting just google my proccesor spikes up to 98%, hard drive to 40% and ram to 98% as well
Also interesting thing, for the first time i noticed in task manager it says i have 4 Gb of RAM, but i have 2 ram cards, both 4Gb and i was told it should add up, so i should have 8 and not 4Gb ram
