Hi, yesterday I was playing Minecraft and I decided to load my game into a newer version (from 1.14.4 to 1.16.3), then I loaded my map and started playing for a while, then I saved it and left the game. Later, I unconsiously loaded my game into the older version, 1.14.4, and when I loaded my map everything was destroyed, literally all the chunks where I have built stuff they were replaced with water and the map was corrupted. I still dont know why in my sane mind I pressed the save button and left to the main menu.
To sum up, if anybody knows how I could fix this, it would be very helpful, I have this map since 2016. Thanks!
Maps are not backward-compatible and they will almost certainly break if you load them in an older version after playing them in a newer version of the game. This is exactly why creating frequent backups of your worlds is very important.
