Hi, I've been playing on 1.6.4 for about six months and taking screenshots, everything works. But yesterday, I took a screenshot and went to send it to someone; I went to `%AppData%\.minecraft\screenshots`, but there was no image.
The only thing that happened between taking previous screenshots and yesterday [when it didn't work anymore] was that I fired up Release 1.0 to play on a server, and I did take some screenshots. I don't know why that could affect it but it may have done so.
Any help on how to reset this strange behaviour would be much appreciated!

Minecrafter since 2013.
Long-Term World 1 March 22nd, 2013 – 2016; Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.6.1 – 0.15.7 Long-Term World 2 2018 – 2019; Minecraft for Windows 10 1.2.11 – 1.12.0 Long-Term World 3 February 15th, 2020 – Present, keeping this world for as long as possible; Minecraft: Java Edition 1.6.4 – 1.19.3
Did you run both versions in the same game directory? This is never recommended as it can cause various issues, including game malfunction and crashes, though I can't see how this would cause screenshots to not be saved so I can only assume you did change the game directory, otherwise, check the game output to see if there are any errors reported when trying to save the screenshot (I've never had any issues myself while playing on 1.6.4 for 7 years but based on the decompiled source code the game will output an error message/stacktrace if it can't save a screenshot, including a message that says "Failed to save [image name]" in the chat). You could also try searching the .minecraft folder (or other custom game directories) for files with a name like "2020-07" (i.e. the year and month of the screenshot, you can include more but this should be enough to exclude other files from the search).

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
