GPU -> GTX 1060[/p]
CPU -> AMD FX-8350[/p]
RAM -> 8 GB, DDR3, Single channel (not sure if the last two count, but I'll include the, just to make sure)[/p]
I am getting ~30 FPS on most shaders. I thought I would be fine with shaders as I thought they were more or less entirely graphics based, but my performance so far has been pretty bad. The only mod I am using is optifine. I thought this may be a bottlenecking issue (which I didn't think would be the issue but it seemed like the most obvious thing that would be going wrong) but from my research it seems that the 8350 and the 1060 should work well together (although I grasp that this is not going to be entirely accurate for my PC). I have also seen a video of someone using an 8350 and a 1060 for shaders and hell, the performance was much better than mine. My graphics drivers are up to date, and I have allocated 5gb of RAM to Minecraft.[/p]
What could be the issue here? I'm no tech expert so I would really appreciate some feedback on what I could do to improve my performance, or what might be slowing it down.[/p]
Could you post a screenshot of your game with the F3 debug screen enabled?
Also, never allocate more than half of your system's RAM to one process. More RAM does not equal more FPS and could actually hurt performance if you give too much. The most you allocate to Minecraft should be 4GB (since you have 8GB), and since you aren't using a lot of mods, even a gig or two should be more than enough for shaders alone.
