Hello, I'm trying to launch and play old versions of Minecraft because my old pc can't run the newer versions smoothly. I am on Linux Mint 19.2 (?) based on Ubuntu Bionic and the game don't launch.
When I try to launch the game, the launcher closes and then opens again, now with error on screen. (see picture)
OS: Linux Mint
Minecraft edition: Java Edition
Java version: openjdk version "11.0.4" 2019-07-16
BTW, the newer versions start but don't run smoothly
This may also be due to the following issue(s) - always run separate versions in their own game directories, or delete "options.txt" from the .minecraft folder:
If this fails, post the crash report (located in .minecraft\crash-reports) and/or game output/launcher logs (if necessary, enable it in launcher settings) so we can see the exact error instead of a generic message.

hi
Java 11 is not supported, use Java 8.
This may also be due to the following issue(s) - always run separate versions in their own game directories, or delete "options.txt" from the .minecraft folder:
Game versions 1.5.2 and lower crash when starting in a newer version's folder due to invalid language in options.txt
Crash after changing max view distance to 20 chunks in options.txt / Render distance too high in options.txt after downgrading
If this fails, post the crash report (located in .minecraft\crash-reports) and/or game output/launcher logs (if necessary, enable it in launcher settings) so we can see the exact error instead of a generic message.
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Worked perfectly, thanks!
