I've been encountering an issue with my singleplayer worlds. Namely, I've been experiencing lag as if it were a multiplayer server, on my singleplayer worlds.
This presents itself as chests not opening instantly, mob movement compensation (mob stops chasing me and seconds later it charges with greater speed) and recently I lost a lot of resources due to my elytra not opening above a lava lake in the nether, (the elytra activates far later than the keypress is performed) and other such issues.
These seem like typical bad server performance or internet connection issues, but my world is singleplayer and not opened to LAN.
Is there an explanation for this? Is this normal? People I've talked to have never faced these issues. And is there anything I could do to fix this?

Does it happen on one world or are others affected? Post a screenshot with F3 enabled and your JVM arguments.
I'm not sure as to whether this happens on all of my worlds since i mostly play on one.
And what are JVM arguments?
Turn down render distance. See if other worlds are affected.
Wouldn't performance related issues manifest in a drop in framerate?
Other worlds seem unaffected at first glance.
Framerate issues are GPU related. Block lag is due to CPU overload.
And if other worlds are not affected, then that one is likely corrupt.
Is there anything I can do about it?
Restore from backup.
Thanks.
