My Minecraft launcher is taking hours to log in, I left it loading overnight and it still hasn't logged on. I tried restarting my computer and even reinstalling Minecraft. I made sure that I used my email and not my username (my account was made after 2012) and I changed my password to fit the secure requested format. Can someone please tell me why I can't log in?
Two things you should do. (It can't hurt to check).
Malwarebytes ADWCleaner is an FREE utility to clean a PC which is infested with malware.
Download it here: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
Run it, click Scan Now, once it completes the scan click Clean & Repair, restart the computer when it asks you to.
Then clean anything mentioning Mojang from your Hosts file.
To edit your Host file, please do the following:
Go to the Start Menu and locate notepad.
Right click notepad and select Run as Administrator
Press File, then Open.
Enter %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts as the "File name" and press "Open"

If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.
Try this temporary workaround until Mojang fix it:
Press the "Windows key + R" at the same time and type "%appdata%/.minecraft"
In that folder, open the "launcher_profiles.json" file with notepad. At the bottom change "channel": "beta", to "channel": "release".
