Hello! I recently upgraded my PC. I will list my specs below. Please read them and suggest what you think video settings and resolution should be set at. I need settings which look good, perform well and don't make my pc overwork itself.
Processor - AMD FX 6350 Six Core Processor
GPU - GTX 1050Ti
RAM - 16GB (I keep 6GB allocated to Minecraft)
Windows 10 Operating System
My current Minecraft settings are:
Graphics: Fancy
Smooth Lighting: Maximum
VSync OFF, Max FPS 70.
Mipmap levels: 4
Biome blend: 5x5
Clouds: Fancy
Particles: All
Thanks!
Also, I sometimes just get block lag while in singleplayer. I don't know why, but it can't be my problem, since multiplayer runs 100% fine.
I do use Optifine, but in this case I was in snapshot 19w07a
You don't mention what render distance you are using, which is probably the single most important setting as it determines how many chunks are loaded and rendered, which changes by the square of the distance (10 chunks = 21x21 = 441 chunks loaded; 20 chunks = 41x41= 1681 chunks loaded). Many people underestimate how resource intensive higher settings can be; 32 chunks wasn't really intended for normal gameplay, only taking screenshots, and the system requirements have significantly increased over time, along with snapshots generally being less optimized than releases, sometimes significantly so, including game-breaking bugs, hence the warning the launcher gives when you enable them (block lag means that the internal server can't keep up, hence server-like lag even though you are in singleplayer. The debug screen (F3) will show show long the ticks are, which should be less than 50 ms).
Also, you do not need to allocate 6 GB to the game, which can degrade performance since Java isn't that good at handling large amounts of memory (in particular, the garbage collector will take longer to run, increasing the duration of lag spikes. Otherwise, more memory does not improve performance as long as the game has enough); the default allocation (2 GB on 64 bit, 1 GB on 32 bit) should be enough for normal settings (I haven't played any newer version since 1.13 was released but it used about 500 MB out of 1 GB; render distance is also limited to 16 unless you allocate more than 1 GB so the game itself prevents you from using settings that would use more memory than is available (unless even less is allocated; make sure that F3 shows an amount close to what you actually allocated as certain 3rd party programs can limit it to 512 or even 256 MB).

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
