I'm playing Minecraft 1.6.4 with the Old Days mod installed (which works properly now again thanks to the community).
I was going through a cave when I suddenly started to hear lots of spider noises.
But they weren't becoming more and more frequent, they were just there, a lot of them at once.
As it turns out, there was a dungeon in the cave with an opening that was not big enough for the spiders.
I started killing the spiders through the opening, but started to notice that they weren't becoming less. The dungeon was always full even with me killing them all the time.
I also noticed that the spawner had a lot more flame particles coming out of it than a normal spawner has (see image below).
After I put a torch on the spawner and killed the spiders again, they were gone. But the spawner still seemed like it was working on overdrive mode or something. There was only one rotating spider inside of it, though, when I looked at it with particles deactivated.
I have never seen this before and the other spawner I found near my spawn (lucky me), which was also a spider spawner, did not have that kind of hyper mode or whatever activated.
Is this just a rare thing or a bug? I'm playing Minecraft since 5 or 6 years and this is the first time I've seen this outside of Vechs' Super Hostile Maps (which has modified spawners). Maybe it's because of the Old Days mod?
At least I have a good spawner for a mob farm now, lol.
