Basically, I'm looking to upgrade my PC. It's pretty good now, but I'm an overachiever and all that. It runs very well normally, but I can't seem to break 60 fps when I'm using shaders on multiplayer servers.
My components at the moment:
GPU - GTX 970
CPU - Core i7-5820K @ 3.30GHz
RAM - 24 GB with 4 GB allocated to minecraft usually
I don't know much about CPUs at all, so that could really be holding me back, but I think my weakest point is my graphics card. What do you guys think though?
Hello! Your PC should be running in Hundreds of FPS already. Short of buying an SSD, it does not get better. I would suggest going through your settings and disabling VSYNC, that setting locks it to your Monitors refresh rate, usually 30 OR 60 FPS.

You CPU is fine, your RAM is fine. You can disable shaders or get a better GPU.
