My daughter has Minecraft and using the Java Edition...In Singleplayer she is experiencing a lot of lag. She has even turned down some graphical settings to help but it still isn't fixing it completely. She didn't have this problem when she first bought the game but I wanna say since 1.13 release it's been worse. Is there anything she can do to resolve this issue?
MC does seem to be getting 'laggier' with each of the recent versions…
About this issue the best that can be hoped is that MS/Mj hears the manifold complaints about this issue and begins codeing with more of an eye to optimizing performance.
Optifine is a free (but consider throwing the guy a donation ) addon that can improve performance.
1.13.2 is claimed to be less of a disimprovement from 1.12.2 than 1.13 or 1.13.1, as well as incorporating fixes for some of the known bugs. If your daughter is currently using 1.13 or 1.13.1, this may help.
Beyond the above, how one plays becomes an issue. [Although having to change playstyle do accomidate declining game performance can hardly be described as an acceptable solution, it may provide a stopgap.]
The most common sources of lag are; large numbers of mobs (eg animals), large numbers of redstone updates (eg clocks or many pistons firing), and large numbers of lighting updates (often associated with redstone devices – particularly if not well lit).
Minimizing these may work as a last ditch effort to keep 1.13.2 playable.
[I am ignoring the most unhelpful suggestions of 'play an earlier version' or 'just upgrade your computer' as I conside both to be cop-outs….]

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.

One thing that can help is the optifine mod, which makes several performance-related fixes (although it's made by a 3rd party)
Get my 1.10.2 modpack :D, Quae Machinis (Machines and Things)
Have a nice day!

Thank you both, going to try that out and see if it helps.
