My game was running smoothly at about 60fps until I pressed F3 and then my game just got really laggy and froze. So I closed minecraft and reopened it and it kept freezing for a few seconds every 10 seconds, and it seems the longer I play the game the longer it freezes for (like a whole minute). I'm on 1.12.2 because of mods and stuff (I don't have very many). I thought it might be because I don't have enough space so I tried freeing up some room but that doesn't seem to be the case, besides I haven't changed/added anything and it was running perfectly until I pressed that one button. I tried changing some settings to make it lag less but that didn't help either. When I play online on 1.13, it's completely fine and runs perfectly. I really don't want to lose all my progress on my main world just because of some stupid freezing problems. Help would really be appreciated because I'm sick and tired of barely being able to move without it freezing

Post a screenshot with F3 enabled and your JVM arguments.
I don't know what JVM arguments are but here are two from when I loaded it up and then literally a minute later
