I have done that and now I'm getting a different error... The world loads momentarily then instantly crashes with "Java(TM) Platform SE Binary has stopped working"
Say something silly, Laugh 'til it hurts, Take a risk, Sing out loud, Rock the boat, Shake things up, Flirt with disaster, Buy something frivolous, Color outside the lines, Cause a scene, Order dessert, Make waves, Get carried away, Have a great day!
The world will not load, I don't get that far.
I reinstalled minecraft and java to no avail.
I checked and my drivers are up to date. Here is the crash report:

Thanks in advance if I've done something stupid.
It ran out of RAM memory. Try increasing that by following these instructions (or any others you find).
Get my 1.10.2 modpack :D, Quae Machinis (Machines and Things)
Have a nice day!

I changed the ram from 2GB to 4GB and then again to 6GB. Still getting the same crash.

You need to remove this:
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

Post the entire log report. "latest.log" is found in the logs folder under the .minecraft folder.
Use https://paste.ubuntu.com/

Anyone got any ideas? I'm clutching at straws. Minecraft would run fine a year ago I have no idea what's changed to make it do this.
