So I play in beta 1.7.3 because like many others I prefer that version to the newer ones.
I was going to get some lapis and cactus green to dye some sheep blue and green, but when I walked around my world, there suddenly weren't any animals any more. Not just no sheep, but none at all.
I tried walking around my world for four ingame days, but I didn't see any animals. Before there were lots of cows, pigs, chickens and of course sheep every day.
I tried placing torches on some grass and waiting for nighttime, but since they changed the spawning system in that version or one before that, that of course didn't work anymore.
Animal spawning in beta 1.7.3 was kind of weird and for some time I thought that in that version it was already changed to about what it is today (or basically just not animals spawning everywhere where there is light like in alpha and early beta) but in the past it seemed like this wasn't the case and I could just kill animals and they would respawn the next day.
Any ideas what could cause this? I want my blue and green wool.
Monster spawning is working fine.
Edit: squids are spawning just fine. There are actually a lot of them in a lake I just walked by. But that's the only animal mob I can see here.
